Two character designs I created for homework this week— assignment: a protagonist and antagonist inspired by art from a nonwestern culture. I chose Ancient Egypt, and tried to create these guys with elements that I liked from the culture without referring too much to it— didn’t want the viewer to think of egypt when looking at it.

the protagonist had some influence from dikou, a character from a series of French children’s books that I loved as a kid.

I always said that I hated acrylic paint, but this week me & acrylics are becoming friends… with benefits.. maybe it’s all moving a little too fast ;(
